    2021-2022 Season Information

This year we have a big change in our program from years prior, we will only be offering a House Team for children 8 and under.  Unfortunately, our numbers don't allow for us to field teams above this age level.  We are refocusing our efforts at the 8U level to rebuild and ultimately grow a stronger program.

    What is a "House Team"?

A House Team is a team that primarily plays at one rink and does not travel (or only travels on occasion).

Why won't we travel this year?

For new players and parents, jumping right into travel hockey can be an overwhelming experience.  Our hope is that by starting with 1 practice a week versus 2 practices and 2 games every weekend, more families will be able to participate and next year we can reevaluate the program with the possibility of offering both a house team and a travel team.

Will our kids still have games?

Yes! Absolutely!  We plan to host a house team tournament towards the end of the season as well as some regular games.  This will be a fun and engaging season!

    Where will we play?

We are securing ice at Gutterson Field House at the University of Vermont.  This has traditionally been our home ice and it's an amazing experience for our players to play on the same ice as the Catamounts!

    Fees

The total cost of the 2021-2022 Season is $250.  There is a 10% Discount for multi-player families.  So the cost for 2 players would be $450, 3 players would be $675, and 4 players would be $900.

Our goal has always been to offer hockey at an affordable price, one way we do that is with required fundraising.  We realize fundraising is usually optional with other sports but ice rental is expensive and fundraising helps offset those costs.

In previous years we have run a Christmas Tree Stand and required families to work 3 shifts per player.  We will be selling trees this year but reducing our number of days a week to accommodate our smaller size.

We also have required families to purchase one Calcutta ticket per player for our annual fundraiser  in years past, this ticket could be sold to family or friends as well.  Typically the cost was around $75.

This year there will be required fundraising and by registering for the 2021-2022 Season you are agreeing to do your part.

    Coaching and Volunteer Opportunities

We are a small organization run by volunteers, without volunteers our children would not have a hockey program.  We hope you will join us in providing a local option for our community to learn and play hockey!  Coaching youth sports does not require a lot of prior knowledge of the game, just patience and the willingness to learn!  There are plenty of other opportunities to help out if you aren't ready to tie on those skates just yet- we also have a board of directors and team managers.

    New Player Information

New Player information can be found on our New to MYHA? page found on the left side menu, on our home page.  This includes where to find hockey gear, as well as how often to sharpen skates.  We are always happy to outfit players with loaner gear at no extra charge.  Please don't hesitate to ask for help!
